Work-in-Progress Screening of THE QUEEN OF THE CAPITAL

Jan 30, 2018 7:00 PM - 9:30 PM EST
George Washington University  /  805 21st Street, NW, Washington, DC 20037, United States

How it Works?

We screen a not-quite finished documentary for an audience made up of both filmmakers and non-filmmakers. As you watch the film, think about how it is flowing. What really stands out? What confuses you? What do you still have questions about? Were there any moments which were too slow or too fast?

Following the screening, the facilitator will ask the filmmaker a few questions about the intentions behind the film and who is considered the target audience.

This will be followed by a workshop session where the audience will provide feedback on the film. Audience members are not required to speak up, but this is definitely more of an audience-focused conversation than it is a traditional Q&A session.

Please note that advance ticket sales have ended for tonight's screening. Seats will be available on a standby basis only.

Since 2004, Docs In Progress has facilitated feedback sessions on the rough cuts of more than 150 documentaries...with your help. Watch a not-quite-finished documentary and participate in a facilitated workshop-style feedback session with the audience. This honest and constructive feedback is aimed at helping the filmmakers get to the next stage of completing and distributing the film. This program is open to filmmakers and film lovers!

WHAT'S SCREENING?

Queen of the Capital
by Josh Davidsburg

Muffy Blake Stephyns has high aspirations...to become Queen of the Imperial Court of Washington DC, a philanthropic LGBT organization. We follow Muffy and her everyday persona, named Daniel, for a year, navigating DC's drag and non-drag worlds and using her political prowess to campaign for her crown.
